Rhino 5 Validation Fails Even After Reset

Older Rhino version
This article covers Rhino 5, which is no longer current. For current licensing information, see Licensing.

If validation fails with a message about an invalid email address, call McNeel Sales in your region (US 206-545-7000).

If validation fails even after Sales has reset your license, or you are prompted to enter an upgrade key that you don’t have, you may have typed your Rhino 5 license key incorrectly. To fix this, delete the LIC file using either method below.

Method 1

  1. Close Rhino.
  2. Delete the LIC file in the C:\ProgramData\McNeel\Rhinoceros\5.0\License Manager\Licenses folder. The file name is similar to 12456787-8f7f-41da-801d-1c87e32f88f5.lic.
  3. Start Rhino 5.
  4. Enter your license key again.

Method 2

  1. Download DeleteRhinoLicense.exe onto your desktop.
  2. Run DeleteRhinoLicense.
  3. Start Rhino 5.
  4. Enter your Rhino 5 license key.
  5. Restart Rhino 5.
  6. Validate your license.
