A Library of Drafting Symbols
Drafting Symbols help architects and drafters create 2D drawings in Rhino with ready-made symbols for context, annotation, and drafting details. Using drafting symbols gives users a faster start, reduces repetitive drafting work, and helps keep drawings consistent across files and teams.
Browse, Place, and Customize
Browse symbols by category in the Library panel, drag them into a Rhino viewport, and fill in any required attributes when prompted
Libraries You Can Build
Create your own library folders to organize, reuse, and share drafting symbols across files and teams.
Try It
- Download Rhino 9 WIP for Windows or Mac.
- Download and open the DraftingSymbols.3dm model.
- Run the
Libraries
command to open the Libraries panel. - From the
Libraries Options menu , select Blocks.
- Browse the drafting symbol folders and choose a symbol.
- Drag and drop the symbol into a Rhino viewport.
- At the Insert File Options dialog, press OK to validate.
- At the Insert dialog, press OK to validate.
- If the symbol includes
Block Attributes, enter the required information when prompted. Press OK. - Edit this data from the
Attribute User Textpage in the
Properties
panel. - To add your own symbols:
- Run the
Options
command. - Go to the Libraries page.
- Add a folder containing your symbols (in any Rhino supported file format)
- in the panel for reuse in other files.
