Yank
jæŋk
A characteristic of curves and surfaces calculated with the fourth derivative. In kinematics, yank represents change in jerk, just as acceleration represents a change in velocity, and velocity represents a change in location. In optics, yank manifests as a particular kind of discontinuity in the reflection of straight lines in a moving mirror.
Yank is sometimes called snap in physics, with higher derivatives still being called crackle and pop.
