Jerk
dʒɜːk
A characteristic of curves and surfaces calculated with the third derivative.
In kinematics, jerk represents change in acceleration, just as acceleration represents a change in velocity, and velocity represents a change in location. In optics, jerk manifests as a particular kind of discontinuity in the reflection of straight lines.
