Inset: Shaping Detail

To be done for V9…

Easily create details on your designs with Inset . Build internal boundaries across multiple faces with constant thicknesses on your models. Add pockets, lips, grooves, recesses or shadow lines. Supported on SubD Objects , Mesh and NURBS geometry.

For Industrial Designers

The Inset Group option allows adjacent faces of a polysurface to be treated as a single region, across multiple faces. This makes it easy to add precise details, such as pockets, grooves, shadow lines and recesses. These new faces can then be extruded or recessed, enabling faster direct modeling workflows.

For Architects

The Inset Group option allows adjacent faces of a polysurface to be treated as a single region, across multiple faces. This makes it easy to add precise architectural elements such as window frames, façade panels, shadow gaps, and recessed details. These new faces can then be extruded or recessed, enabling faster direct modeling workflows.
