Main Menu
Main menu is where you can access the File, Layers, Settings, and Help panels.
Tap the
button to access the main menu panels.
File panel
The File panel is where you can open, import, save or share a model, as well as start scanning a room or an object. It also displays information about the current model.
Open
Open a file from your device or a cloud storage.
What file formats can iRhino open and save?
Import
Merge a file from your device or a cloud storage into the current file.
Save
Save the changes made to the current file. You will be prompted with these options:
- Overwrite existing
For 3DM files only, save changes to the file. Any previous versions of the 3DM file will be updated to the latest version.- Save as v8
Force saving a Rhino 8 3DM file.- Save as v7
Force saving a Rhino 7 3DM file.
Close
Close the current file. If no changes have been made since the last save, the model will close directly. Otherwise, you will be prompted with following options:
- Close without saving
Close the file and reverts it to the state of the last saved version.- Save and close
Save the changes made to the current file and then close it.
Layers panel
The Layers panel is where you can manage the layers in the model.
Layer name
The names of the layers are displayed on the left.
- If a layer is the parent of other layers, tap the
or
icon to expand or collapse its child layers.
- If a layer name is too long and clipped, drag the name to the left to show the full name.
- Swipe a layer from a blank area to the left to show more layer operations:
Delete layer
Delete the layer from the model.
Select objects
Select all the objects on the layer. Objects on child layers are not included.
Layer color
The color of a layer is applied to all the objects on that layer. Tap the color icon to open the color selection dialog, where You can choose a color from three selection modes:
- Grid
Select a color from a grid of preset colors.
- Spectrum
Select a color from a gradient spectrum.
- Sliders
Select a color using RGB sliders. You can also enter the RGB values or Hex code to set a color.
Opacity slider
Control the transparency level of the colors.
Eyedropper
Use it to pick a color from anywhere on the screen.
Add custom color
Save the current color to the custom color list.
Locked /
Unlocked
Tap the lock icon to toggle the layer’s locking state. Locking a layer prevents accidental editing of the objects on that layer.
On /
Off
Tap the lightbulb icon to toggle the visibility of objects on that layer.
Current /
Non-current
Tap the checkbox of a layer to make it the current layer. The current layer is where operations take place and, therefore, cannot be locked or hidden.
Settings panel
The Settings panel allows you to manage the general, display, and interaction options of the iRhino application.
General
Augmented Reality
People Occlusion
Enhances the realism of the AR experience by ensuring that virtual objects are correctly obscured by people in the scene, creating a more immersive interaction between the digital and physical worlds.
InfoThe effectiveness of this feature depends on the capabilities of your device’s hardware and software, as well as the complexity of the AR scene.
Markups
Save pencil markup with swipe
When marking up a model with an Apple Pencil, performing a view manipulation gesture on the screen or trackpad automatically saves the current markup and quit the Markup mode.
Display
The Display settings customize the visual appearance of the viewports and object elements.
Background
Fill Mode
Set the model viewport background to use a single color, 2-color gradient, or 4-color gradient.
Layout
Customize the display color for all layouts to suit your preferences or enhance the visibility of drawings on them.
Visibility
Control the visibility of object types and elements.
Objects
Control the thickness of curves, edges, and wires for various object types.
Interaction
The Interaction settings customize how you interact with the app, including gesture settings, touch input, and navigation options.
Input and Gestures
3D Navigation
Free Orbit
Freely rotate the camera around the viewport center in any direction. It gives you complete control over the viewpoint.
Look Around
Fix the camera in place and pivot the view in a first-person perspective, as if you were standing in a room and looking around without changing your position.
Friction
For Free Orbit only, the slider adjusts the resistance to view manipulation after your finger lifts up. Moving the slider to the far left causes the view to continue spinning until interrupted.
Help panel
The Help panel provides access to resources and guides to assist you in using the application. It includes the following sections:
