Direct3D

Increased display stability for Rhino.

Stability

Graphics drivers have always been the biggest single source of display trouble in Rhino, and bad OpenGL drivers are why some perfectly good machines were listed as unsupported. Direct3D is the technology Windows is built around, so every hardware vendor provides much better driver support, making it a far more ubiquitous and stable display technology.

+ Devices

Since Direct3D is a widespread technology, Rhino now runs where it couldn’t before, including Windows on ARM laptops and Virtual Machines such as Parallels, VMware, and Remote Desktop, and it behaves far more predictably on the older and low-end GPUs that have been hardest to support.

We continue providing OpenGL support for the time being. You can switch back to it by going to Options / View/ GPU page.
