Changing the IP Address of a LAN Zoo Server
Question
We want to change the IP address of several of our license servers. One of them hosts the LAN Zoo service for Rhino. Because the license is a soft lock, will changing the server’s IP address disable any part of the license? The host name and MAC address will stay the same.
Answer
No. Neither the LAN Zoo installation nor the licenses it manages are tied to the server’s IP or MAC address, so changing the IP address of the LAN Zoo server doesn’t affect the LAN Zoo.
If your Rhino installations find the LAN Zoo server by its DNS name, the change should go smoothly. If they find it by its IP address, you will need to point each workstation to the new address.
