In mathematics, the field of study concerned with collecting, organising, analysing, and interpretating data. Descriptive statistics studies the properties of collated data, such as its typical values or distributions. Inferential statistics takes the collated data as being representative of a larger whole, deducing properties of the same from the sample data.
