Probability Distribution
prɒbəˈbɪlɪti dɪstrɪˈbjuːʃ(ə)n

In statistics, a description of how common various outcomes are. The more common outcomes have a greater probability of occurring within the distribution. The distribution itself is either calculated using a probability distribution function, or just created from a collection of samples.

Probability distributions are typically encountered in connection with statistical experiments or scientific modelling, where some process or property is assumed to follow a certain, often idealised, mathematical function.
