Parameter
pəˈramɪtə
(1) In Grasshopper, an object which stores data. A single parameter contains data of a specific type. Parameters may occur individually as free floating objects, or they may be part of a component, where they serve as the inputs and outputs.
(2) In mathematics, parameters are the required inputs for a function. E.g. in sin(x) and atan(a,b), the parameters are x, a, and b. In the mathematical context, parameters may also be known as variables or arguments, though technically there are subtle differences between the three.
(3) In programming, a value passed to a function. In certain programming languages, parameters are referred to as arguments.
