The digit which, when altered, changes the magnitude of a number the least. It is the digit located at the far right of a string, e.g. in the number 632.48 the LSD is 8. The least significant digits in a number are the most affected by the imprecisions inherent in floating-point mathematics and their correctness should be subject to skepticism.
