Extrinsic Mean
A method for computing the average of a collection of angles. The 'extrinsic' refers to the fact that this method operates in the plane surrounding the circular space in which angles are defined. The extrinsic mean computes the average of all points on the circle implied by the angles, then projects the mean back onto the circle to yield the final average.
This method is less correct than the intrinsic mean, but may nevertheless sometimes be useful.
