Double Precision
ˈdʌb(ə)l prɪˈsɪʒ(ə)n
A type of floating point number, which uses 64 bits in total. This is the most commonly used number type in CAD and manufacturing. When written in a decimal format, double precision floating point numbers have about 15 or 16 significant decimal places, but do note that this does not guarantee the same amount of accuracy.
