Glossaryˈparɪti
Arity
ˈparɪti

A property of a function which describes how many arguments it has.

For example, the functions abs(x) and sin(x) have an arity of one, min(a,b) has an arity of two, and wrap(x,a,b) has an arity of three. This also applies to arithmetic operators, so e.g. a+b has an arity of two, while -b has an arity of one.
