You must know:
-
Curve Drawing (Curve)
- Lofting (Loft)
- Object Snaps
- Move objects (Move)
- Turn control points of
a surface on (PtOn)
and off (PtOff)
- How to use elevator mode
You will learn:
To create a lofted surface with a smooth tip:
-
Open loft01.3dm.

-
Use Curve
to create several closed curves in the Front view.
Note:
If you want the tip to be perfectly round, make sure
the cross section curve
next to the tip is planar and convex.
(If you stretch a rubber
band around the CVs of a convex
curve, the band will touch
all CVs).

-
Drag the curves in place in
the Perspective view.
- Use Loft
with Point option. Pick a starting point using
elevator mode and then pick
the rest of the curves.
This loft will have a sharp tip.

-
Use PtOn
to turn on the CVs of the lofted surface.
- Zoom in on the tip of
the loft. There's a ring of CVs near
the tip.
- Draw a Line
between CVs on the opposite sides of the loft
using Point Object Snap.

-
There are many CVs stacked
at the tip of the loft. Select
them all using window selection.
- Use Move
combined with point
and mid
object snaps
to move the CVs from the
tip to the middle of the line.
