Maxwell Render, the light simulator

Maxwell Render™ is a new render engine based on the physics of real light. Its algorithms and equations reproduce the behaviour of light in a completely accurate way. All of the elements in Maxwell, such as light sets, physical materials and cameras, are entirely based on physically accurate models. Maxwell Render™ can fully capture all light interactions between all elements in a scene no matter how complex they are. Maxwell Render™ has been acclaimed as a landmark in the next-gen rendering technology, having produced the best photorealistic images to date. Maxwell Render™ is the perfect solution for high-end rendering, especially in areas like architecture, industrial design, prototyping and 3D production. The key factors of Maxwell Render™ are: - EASE OF USE All parameters in Maxwell use real-world units. You don’t need to learn strange concepts, set a long list of uncertain parameters or “launch photons” anymore. With Maxwell, just pick a 100-watt incandescent lamp or a marble material from the material gallery, and that’s all. - MAXWELL MULTILIGHT ™ Don't re-render, adjust the lights in realtime! For the first time in the industry, it is possible to have unlimited variations of lighting from just one render. Things have never been this easy... - MAXWELL MATERIALS What makes them so different and unique? For the first time in the industry, you can have access to the most realistic, simulated materials so far. Things have never been this easy... - CROSS-PLATFORM Maxwell Render™ is a cross-platform solution available for Windows™ 32 and 64 bits, Mac OSX ™ and Linux™ platforms. Maxwell Render™ provides plugins for the major 3D applications like Rhinoceros™, 3ds Max™, Viz™, Maya™, LightWave™, SolidWorks™, Allplan 2006 ™, Archicad™, CINEMA 4D™, form·Z™, Houdini™ and SketchUp™. Additionally, Maxwell operates as a stand-alone application featuring Maxwell Studio – a full 3D editor to compose scenes, Maxwell Material Editor – a versatile physical material editor, and Maxwell Engine – the command line controllable render engine.

Maxwell Beta Version is amazing! 8/2/2005
My first test rendering was more photorealistic than anything I have done in the last 12 years! It's not for quick concept rendering, but instead you get total realism with ease. The long rendering times are OK to me, becasue the set ups are so easy. The Beta version has its limitations, but the full version to be released in OCT, 2005, will fix this. The Beta is worth the $500 - even if they don't fix anything. I wish there was a free downlad trial, but I finally gave in a bought the Beta and no regrets.

Renders to the MAX 5/6/2005
:: This is the next big thing in the world of rendering. Despite being at it's early stages, this plugin is changing computer visualization. I can't wait for the final release to come out and then 3DS MAx will have some real competition in their hands

HOW TO TEST 5/9/2005
I can say that this renderer is very good with 5 stars after exploring its gallery. But the thing is that there is no working demo offered to check the program and its interface. I can nearly get these results using MAX with its plugins, by long time spending efforts. If this program will reduce the time, it ok. I wish i could have it tested....

As real as a Photograph 6/24/2008 von 'Dr Peter Murdoch' von Dr Peter Murdoch
Maxwell is by far the best rendering program available today. Its a bit tricky to learn but watch the tutorial movies and you will be up and running in a few days. Make sure you get the focus right, lights are surfaces with emitters, and use Multilight, its insane how fantastic it works. I have used Brazil, Flamingo and Maxwell leaves them behind. 5 stars is not enough to show how good this program is.

Never ordered with sooo much trouble 6/15/2005
Tried to order the preorder incentive and they just shut down their website, however the website still indicates that ordering is still possible. If this is any indication of their service I feel a responsiblity to let others know:(( Greg JewelSmiths 925-200-2850

Reality 4/27/2005
Sorry, Flamingo... I'll never be using you again. Maxwell is still in alpha testing (as of April, 2005), but the results are already spectacular. It treats light like actual waves. Refraction, caustics, the works. It is the most realistic renderer to date. Just think of it this way: shine a light into a prism and it will split into the entire spectrum. Awesome and a half.

Bad As$ ! 8/13/2008 von 'Noah Phense' von Noah Phense
If all the other rendering software in the world was free. I would still have purchased Maxwell.
